Foodporn: The Lo•Ka'l cafe - cafe food review!

Hey guys! So we checked out Lo•ka'l last weekend, located around Tanjong Pagar. We were recommended by an acquaintance to try it out - and the review you can find out by reading on :)

So here's what the cafe looks like on the outside
Entering
Interior - super bohemian with the lighting and stuff, but also kind of unconventional
Here's what it looks like inside
More of the inside
Alright so here's the menu - as you can see the prices are quite steep :0
Alright so first we ordered the Fat Chips, Truffle Oil and Parmesan
It tasted really good, fries were golden and crispy, the Parmesan was extremely complementary, and the marinara sauce on the side was not bad food. The only thing I would say was not that great was the taste of the truffle oil - the fries were not evenly coated with the truffle oil, and so as a result the truffle taste kind of varies from fry to fry - could be improved
This was the seafood stew. The sauce was really really thin, has a good assortment of seafood. Everything was well cooked. However, at $28, I would not try this again :/
This was their rib eye - definitely one of the best. Tasted amazing, comes with vegetables to balance the taste of the meat out - simply delicious.
This was the arancini. It actually tastes pretty nice just that the inside was pure risotto -  when I had it in an Italian restaurant the inside had some of the tomato sauce as well, so I felt that that was a way it could be improved. Nonetheless, this was really good :)
This pasta is by far the best (also the cheapest) among the mains. It's a Lobster Pasta (but there's crayfish on top) but anyways the sauce is absolutely amazing. The linguine cooked perfectly, the seafood inside as well. The sauce is well tossed with the food. I strongly recommend it!
Okay so here's the fish that we ordered. I can't remember what fish it was but it's pan seared. It also comes with lemon and this vegetable mixture on the side which I didn't really like at all it tasted kinda weird :0. But the fish was really good! :) it's definitely another one that you can try. Note that it's not on the menu, but it was offered that day.
Oh and here's the inside of the arancini for anyone wondering
The tables were quite small so I used a corner of the rib eye plate as my plate. Here you can see lobster pasta, the ribeye and some of the vegetables.
This is the sticky date pudding - highly recommend it to anyone coming to try the place out. I think that it's the perfect combination of a hot and cold dessert. And with some awesome sauce to cover the pudding and ice cream, it's definitely a good taste. But I do think it might be a bit too sweet for others depending. Don't hesitate to try it!
This was a coffee that we ordered haha I don't drink coffee so no comments -

All in all, our bill came down to $170+. Because it's SG50 though, we got 50% off as we had someone over the age of 50 at our table. Hence the bill came down to less than $100.

I would say that at the 50% off price, I would never hesitate to come here. Any of though, and I would not. Whilst I understand that cafe food can be expensive, I don't see why I shouldn't be dining at Huber's instead of this place for the most part. And also it's a pretty far away place for me. So yea, probably wouldn't be paying another visit anytime soon.

Thanks for reading :)

Love,
Khione
