Updates on the Carousell Scam : CASE CLOSED !! :)

Hey guys! I'm really excited to announce that the scam case has finally been resolved!!

It took a while, but apparently due to miscommunication there were two police stations who thought that the other was handling it (so A thought B was doing it, B thought A was doing it). Apparently they didn't properly take down that I had already reported by phone when I went down to the station, explaining the time lapse and lack of replies.

So because of this I now really want to clear up how much time it should theoretically take to solve a scam case as such.

1. Handling of case + report
The police have to investigate the matter, this takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks.

2. Contacting the bank
Once it's been confirmed that you were scammed and haven't received your item, they will contact the bank to check on the transaction. This part is really slow - it takes 2 to 3 months! So you can really see how troublesome it is.

3. Contacting the scammer
I decided last week to call up the police again, and within a few days they had the girl into the station. Since the amount isn't too huge or difficult to come up on the spot, they will assist by bringing the person to a bank to transfer the money (while watching of course) or the person can hand cash to the police and you can go collect at the station. The second option was what happened for me.

I'm actually really glad this case is finally over and done with, although I do wonder if there were any charges on her. Personally after a year and a half I was no longer about the money getting returned, but I did want to make sure that she was held accountable for taking money (regardless the amount) from other people without delivering her side of the promise which is the same as stealing.

So to all the victims who have been scammed - keep all the conversations! Screenshot the listings etc, transaction records these are all very useful and help the police to trace down the person in question super easy. You can actually try finding out information about the scammer from others (Google, people etc.) as well. Provide as much as you can, and with patience I'm sure you can get your money back too. I'm just glad to be able to find some closure of anything. Do not give up - because closing a case is very important to ensure the scammer never does it to anyone else again. Hope this post helped :)

Love,
Khione
