Worth it? : Platinum Movie Suites by Cathay

Hey guys! So I thought I'd share about my Platinum Movie Suite experience. I won this movie ticket for this kind of seating last year (blogged about it) so that's the only reason why I actually went to this place. The normal retail price is $28 on weekdays and $35 on weekends I believe? Either way, it's not cheap.
So you enter from a different doorway (also you buy tickets from inside the suites)

They do have a selection of good food, ranging from truffle fries to beef lasagna. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to order anything because I was really full from lunch and I couldn't eat anything at all.
Here's a look at the suites:
There's a TV showing trailers, and also lets you know which cinema was seating. Basically, you can hang in the lounge one hour before and one hour after the movie.
For some reason I was expecting light snacks or drinks but apparently not so... Never mind. Also I selected the movie Pan!
Okay and here you have this fancy lift inside the suite. Note that you actually sit in a separate movie hall from others.
Second floor of the lounge
When you enter and sit down, they actually have these panels where you can switch on and off a lamp (with different lighting settings), or you could call the staff to order food.
They also have a menu!
Some pictures of the menu. I honestly think it's overpriced. Firstly, even in places such as Spruce and Lo'ka'l where it's kind of like a classy boogy cafe truffle fries only cost $10 so for a cinema to charge $12 I mean quality wise it's probably not up to par with cafes so that to me was kind of bummer?
Pictures of seats
The seat is sofa style, with buttons on the side for a reclining foot rest and head rest.
More photos of seats!

Fun fact: you also get blankets and pillows (apparently I only had a blanket though)

I'm sorry if the photos are bad quality! I wasn't alone in the cinema so I was trying not to switch on my flash and take more pictures.

All in all, I would definitely never return to the suites again. Although the seat is very comfortable and all, I'm really sure it's not worth 4 times the price (for me as a student). The comfort of the sofa chair was really the best part. The lounge is kind of silly to me because you can definitely just chill elsewhere and you'd probably be having more fun. Yes, you will have wifi, but I just don't find it realistic to hang around a lounge before and after the movie for wifi? Wouldn't you rather go home and use it at home instead? I feel like the price of the suites is severely over what I would expect. Plus, I think even in normal cinemas in a normal cinema seat I find plenty of comfort since it is cushioned in some way. It's really not that bad or makes you feel squashed, hence I find no discomfort in the first place in an average cinema seating. For me, I'd be able to enjoy the film just as much.

In conclusion, I don't feel it's worth it at all because there's really nothing that brings an attracting factor to the suites for the price where you'll feel you spent your money well? I mean even for dates, seriously take your partner to a normal cinema and do more fun stuff later, the suites are honestly not worth it. Oh and another downside, this thing literally opens at 3pm. Which means you can select any movie from the normal showing times that starts after 3 (I normally watch movies earlier than that so it's kind of a pain to have to wait for that)

I hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for reading!

Love,
Khione
