Foodporn : Nakhon Kitchen

Hey guys!

Time for the first foodporn post of the year, featuring one of my new found favourite restaurants - Nakhon Kitchen!

Nakhon Kitchen is a Thai food restaurant that already has several outlets around Singapore. The one I visited was at 87 Pasir Panjang Road. It's best to go during lunch time as it can be rather packed at dinner time.

Let's get right into the food I ordered!
So here we have the pineapple fried rice as well as the kang kong belachan.

Pineapple fried rice is such a necessity when eating Thai food, it's a rather symbolic dish in Thai cuisine. The rice here is super fragrant, and the pineapple chunks give that lovely sweetness to the salty fried rice. Absolute heaven.

The kang kong belachan is one of our favourite dishes - but the one here is fried in a way that's distinctly different from the average kind you find at your favourite Zi Char place. I find that the sauce is really quite light and flavourful with the vegetables. The chilli that they add in also give that extra burn to your veggies. Love love love

The next dish we ordered was the Chicken Basil Rice
Again, the chicken basil is a huge dish in Thai cuisine, and one of the most iconic few (FYI some rice was already taken out before I took the picture so please don't think they give like three bites of rice). This is honestly a very decent portion for the price. It comes with a fried egg, the chicken basil and the rice, as well as some cucumber slices. What I love about the chicken basil is the sauce - it's so rich! There's such a strong taste from the sauce and you can really tell the chicken has completely absorbed flavour from the sauce. The way the chicken is cooked is also really good, in the sense that it's not too hard or too raw, just perfect.

Next up, green curry chicken.
You really cannot have Thai food without green curry chicken! Again, the chicken chunks here are a considerable size and cooked to absolute perfection. The curry gravy itself is not extremely spicy, and has a very rich pandan + coconut kind of flavour. I do find it a little watery a consistency for my preference, but overall this dish is still super tasty.

Pad Thai was the next to be served
The Pad Thai here seems to lean on the sweeter side, and that was something I found really different about this dish. Another thing is that the noodles here are fried really well - springy and not too soft or soggy, just the right texture. It's a definite must-try dish, and also has a considerable portion so it does seem to be for more than one person.

Tom Yum soup comes next (we ordered it spicy and thick with seafood)
I love the Tom yum soup here! It has such a good burn with every spoonful, but the taste makes you completely unable to stop drinking it. The flavour of the soup really has me here. Every mouthful truly delivers, and that's more than enough a reason to try it out. The seafood inside is also cooked super well so you can be sure to love it.

Lastly, the Garlic Fried Pork, which I featured on my November + December favourites
This has got to be my favourite dish out of everything. The pork meat is battered so well and has such a strong garlic flavour, with the outer shell completely golden and crispy. It's such a lovely combination of flavours, words truly aren't enough to describe it. The meat itself tastes well seasoned too. This dish is something you really can't find in other Thai restaurants at the price and taste, so I highly recommend you try this out.

There were 4 of us, and all the food we ordered above was more than plenty. The bill came down to 40+, so on average maybe $12 a person. If you just order like the chicken basil rice for example for just one person, your budget obviously goes down a couple bucks. All depending, though I would recommend coming with more people.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Love,
Khione
