Cafe hopping: Patisserie G (part one)

Cafe hopping is a totally on trend right now among my peers and I decided to try it after my exams ended :) it was my first time since previously I just took pictures of my food to send to my friends. (It's the way we socialise)

The basic concept is to go around different cafés or cool food spaces and snap pictures (feeding into foodporn)

Me and my friend decided to go around the Promenade area to find some good foods for my first time since there were many popular spots to choose from.

First place we went was Patisserie G. This place has a really humble location and it may be a little hard to spot since their storefront is not very noticeable (in fact we walked past it twice without knowing). It's got a great assortment and array of desserts and macarons, and they also have a type of meal featuring an omelette with different fillings. When you walk inside, you are immediately greeted with the desserts at their counter. Took us a while to pick out what we wanted :P

We decided to go for one cake each and share :D

I ordered some sort of salted caramel cake whilst my friend ordered a chocolate cake (forgot the names)

(Front: my cake
Back: the chocolate cake)

We sampled both cakes (yes we shared) and both cakes were really good. But take note, if you are someone like me and you tend to gag a little once you eat too much of cream foods (hence I have trouble with carbonara pasta often), take a few sips of water in case you end up vomiting. My cake had quite a thick layer of cream covering the whole cake, but when you got to the centre it was okay, there was sponge and the outer caramel layer definitely had the salted caramel flavour, the sponge would also help to offset the gag.

The chocolate cake was extremely delectable, though one issue was that it was pretty hard to cut through without holding it down since it's quite sticky. Nevertheless, the desserts were extremely enjoyable and the presentation was great. We also got our seats pretty fast when we arrived at lunch time. Do note, the cakes are priced around 8-9 dollars so they are rather expensive, but I suppose if you'd like to try it once this would be definitely worth it.

I'd definitely be trying the macarons next time as well as the packaged meringues that they had on display at the shelves.

Patisserie G is located at Millenia Walk. You can check their Instagram or website for more information :)

Will upload part two soon :)
