Australia trip: Day 1 - traveling to Melbourne

(This post is one day late because I only got enough wifi access to upload the pictures today. )

Hey! I'm currently on a trip to Australia for the holidays, and also MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you :)

Yesterday, I woke up early in the morning to get to the airport. We had a small limousine to fetch us (perks of having a credit card) to the airport in the morning. :)

We reached around 8 and chilled around the SIA Lounge before boarding the flight to Melbourne at 10.45 am.

Some cool clouds I photographed :)

It took us seven hours to reach Melbourne, and by then it was approximately 8-9pm there. FYI, Melbourne is three hours ahead of Singapore :)

I also decided to photograph the food because it was really good and they have some special dishes for Christmas

This was the pesto fish one I had. It tasted really good! It comes with boiled vegetables, the usual bread and butter, creamer, cheese and crackers, a really good pasta salad with ham and lettuce, some orange juice and water. Everything was really filling too. I didn't manage to eat the crackers :(
This was what my sibling had, which was the Christmas special menu if I'm not wrong. It comes with the traditional stuffed turkey but in slices of course, and some boiled vegetables. The sides were the same, except that the drink is a fruit spritzer which is non alcoholic. According to my family it wasn't really that good though, but it's understandable since it is airplane food, there really are some difficulties with preparing food for on flight meals!

I forgot to mention but we were also given a bauble shaped chocolate chip cookie! Believe it was a Christmas treat from SIA (best flight ever)

This was what we had for dessert :) a Mag-a-cone chocolate flavour! Pretty good and standard.

SIA also prepared refreshments for us in the course of the flight as a mini meal about a few hours after lunch.

I ordered the cream penne pasta that comes with chives and I believe some fish? Tasted really good though, the fish tasted like smoked salmon or something but a little more cooked.

There was also Nasi Lemak provided as the other choice. For those who don't know, it is a very common meal in Singapore! Comes with ikan bilis (dried fish), half a boiled egg, some of the REALLYYYY good chilli, coconut rice, fish and nuts/meat I think (forgot what it was)

Both of these refreshments were delicious :)

We were able to reach during sunset! The sunsets for Melbourne occur around 8-9pm which is way later than Singapore, but it was beautiful nonetheless :)
Took a few pictures with my phone. It was quite difficult because the plane window is really small!

We walked to the duty free to have a look around too! The cosmetics are actually a little cheaper for some items. For example, a CHANEL lipstick normally costs around $42 SGD, but over here it costs $37 AUD. So after conversion it would be a little cheaper (just a little)

Also saw this interesting Oreo tin? Really interesting because I've never seen it before, but then again maybe I haven't been going to the supermarket enough.

Finally, we walked outside Melbourne Airport. It's really quite pretty! We are currently staying in a house with other family, so we were picked up by car which was great. Am gonna post about Day 2 next!

This was 24 December btw :)

On to the next post!
Love,
Khione
