Australia trip: Day 2 - visiting relatives, Christmas and more!

Hello! Here's Day 2 of Australia (aka today)

So Christmas in Australia is really quite different from Christmas in Singapore, because every single shop is closed on Christmas.

Well almost.

Some of the Asian food places were still open and we had lunch at one of them. But yea, most of the shops are closed on Christmas because most people celebrate with their families. Also, the housing here are all landed so far, which means that they are all pretty huge houses, and I haven't really seen any apartments yet. Could just be the area, but I feel that there's so much more greenery and free space really.

We had lunch at this Chinese dimsum restaurant at Springvale Mall! The food portions here are pretty large, and even the individual dimsum are actually larger than that of the same in Singapore. Pricing is generally manageable, and this restaurant is really popular. Particularly because it was Christmas I suppose, there were quite a bit of people queuing but it was fast :)

We then stopped over at a relatives house for an afternoon. Didn't take too many pictures!

The cherries here in Australia are actually pretty large and they taste a lot better than the imported ones we have back in sg normally. It is pretty expensive though, but still cheaper than sg. These are all fresh though!

Next, we had some activites and for dinner we were treated to a home cooked meal! My relatives are really good with gardening, so almost all of the vegetables were actually plucked from their very own garden! :)

The abalone in Australia are mostly fresh :) so they actually taste better and are softer and easier to chew than the normal canned ones we find back home. Really good!

We also had some fried zucchini (home grown) but I didn't get to photograph it :)

After dinner the sun was still up so we went for a small walk at the park near their house! Took some really nice photos :)

Nighttime came and on the way back, we stopped by this really amazing friend's house. There are some houses in Australia that really do quite a lot of decoration for Christmas and this was certainly one of them!

Can you believe this is all just for one house?!

But yup, that concludes my day 2 of Australia, and tomorrow is Boxing Day and there are mega huge sales here, so tmr is a shopping trip! Await a haul ~

Once again, Merry Christmas, and thank you for reading :)

Love,
Khione
