Foodporn: a day out studying, Eighteen Chefs and One Ice Cafe!
Hey guys!
So last Sunday, I went to the library to study for the upcoming exams
And well, let's just say I've decided to share what I ate that day (because it's really good?!) and they were after all some new tries so I decided to share it :)
All stores were at JCube
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
1. Eighteen Chefs
This restaurant has literally been all the hype when I saw it at NEX, so it was really cool to see an outlet at JCube! The queues are not very long, and they have student discount meals from Monday to Sunday (which is super awesome and rare). It's honestly a pleasant surprise to still be able to find places where they stil have student prices on weekend. This student meal is $6.40, and comes with one topping (from 4 choices) on the pasta/rice, and just varieties of sauces to choose from
So moving on, here's what I ate for lunch that day at Eighteen Chefs
- (Red and white sauce) Cheese baked pasta
Topping: Mushroom
- (came with free iced lemon tea and also ice cream (was coconut that day))
Total cost: $7.20 student price)
Note we had to topup 80c for cheese baked pasta :))
Honestly, it was an extremely pleasant surprise because the portions are not only huge, but truly worth the money. If you're not satisfied with one topping, you can pay the price for an additional two toppings at the price of one (for students) so it's definitely worth the money! They have so many different combinations of sauces and toppings, it really is impressive how affordable it is for such big portions, good taste and good seating too.
I do however realise that the mushrooms were canned? Not sure, but the taste didn't taste really fresh so I'm probably going to try another topping next time. Still, might just be me with weird tastebuds...
If you're looking for an affordable lunch though, I'd definitely pick this place especially for students :))
2. One Ice Cafe
One Ice Cafe is a Korean dessert shop at JAvenue (it's opposite Itacho Sushi) in JCube. I tried it for the first time on Sunday and I have to say I'm extremely blown away! The dessert was absolutely great, and the portion was huge so I'd advise anyone ordering the desserts to bring 2-4 people (and 2 is stretching it)
We ordered just the normal Patbingsu (kind of like Korean ice kachang I guess?)
At $6.80, the portion was pretty worth the money. The ingredients were pretty simple yet delicious, vanilla ice cream, red bean, Nata de coco, Korean sweet rice cake, Milk (I think it's soy milk and hence sweet?), cereal crispies, and also shaved ice (obviously)
(Yes this is a huge bowl)
