Foodporn: Tree Lizard Cafe

Hello again!! Sorry for all the very random post timings - 2017 is very busy for me as I'll be having my A level exams :( Understandably, posting won't be as consistent. But to lighten up your day (in case it hasn't been great), I have a really fun foodporn post at Tree Lizard Cafe @ Dempsey.

Tree Lizard Cafe is a restaurant located at Dempsey, next to Long Beach. I had never heard of this place before, but had a 40% discount at this restaurant so I went to try it out!! 😊 Food is actually pretty decently priced even without the discount considering the location - and I would say the taste and quality of ingredients used is nothing short of absolute satisfaction. Jumping into the food now!

  Crayfish Pasta
So this is a really cool crayfish pasta which I ordered that has a very flavourful tomato base. I'm also extremely impressed with how much crayfish they give you. This is normally priced at 19.90, but compared to the kind of ingredients you get at Swensens (which has crayfish pasta for 17.90), I actually think this one is more worth it. I do have to say that the crayfish did seem a tad overcooked, but the flavour was absolute heaven otherwise, from the pasta to the sauce and the seasoning. Highly recommended dish to try 😋

Vegetable Lasagne
Next up is this amazing vegetable lasagne which has a good mixture of salad vegetables, eggppant, and spinach I believe. I actually loved this dish a whole lot as well. This is priced at 14.90.
Firstly, as is it being vegetarian is means it gets plus points for being pretty healthy. But let's get down into how this dish works perfectly together. The vegetables are fresh and of a good quality, and I love how they all come together so well in this dish. I think the issue with vegetarian foods sometimes is that it can be very bland and there's just not much flavour. However, this isn't the case for their Lasagne. It was bursting with flavour, cooked al dente, presentation was beautiful - nothing to complain about. Beautiful dish altogether.

Garden pasta
The next dish I have here is the Garden pasta. It has a very fragrant garlic cream base - almost like a carbonara, but with no meat (which trust me you won't miss with this dish). The presentation is seriously exquisite, and the flavour matches up as well. It consists of spinach, mushrooms and the egg yolk primarily toppings wise. Imagine if Aglio Olio and Carbonara combined - that's exactly what you get with this dish. I love how fresh the ingredients are as per always (very consistent with this restaurant). Definitely a dish that can satisfy your testbuds. Priced at 14.90 as well, which is pretty fair for quality.

Fish and Chips
I can't remember the exact price of this dish because it has been a week or two since I last had it, but I do believe it's around 17.90. The breaded fish fillet was fried to a gorgeous golden brown, and you can tell that there's seasoning which coats the fish before it is fried (based on the green colouration of the fish). I would have to comment that it was really nice and soft inside whilst being perfectly crispy on the outside - the best combination a girl could ever ask for in her fish and chips. Still, I don't think this one stands out to me as compared to the other dishes though, but it is a very classic Western meal must have. Fries were well seasoned and well made, salad was fresh, and everything complemented perfectly.

Burger (can't remember the name of this sorry)
I believe this burger was around $20, which is sort of pricey. However, I absolutely fell in love with the flavours. The patty is actually super super well cooked, and you can tell it was made from very good quality beef. The ingredients - egg, tomato, cheese, lettuce and bacon all complemented the meat perfectly. Bun was perfectly toasted, albeit a bit soggy (would be expected as I think there is butter on the top bun), but it's really just a tad soggy which is perfectly normal and fine. The serving size was generous, and the ingredients are once again all made to complement each other perfectly for a very balanced meal (flavour wise - maybe not nutrition wise).

Truffle Fries
I do believe these are around 12-14$, and they come with a dip of mayo ( I think ). Y'all know I love truffle to the high heavens, and I simply had to order this. I really do love shoestring truffle fries, because they just tend to spread the truffle oil out more evenly. Naturally, no truffle fries are complete without parmesan cheese, and these fries were well tossed with bits of parmesan - some serious next level truffle power I swear.

Altogether, I would say my experience here has been one that was nothing short of perfect. The ambience, the food, everything was simply amazing. I'm actually really glad to have found yet another place to dine at 😋 and I am definitely going to come back again to try their foods. If you haven't checked them out yet, you can here:
