Foodporn : The Marmalade Pantry
I visited the Marmalade Pantry just a while back and we had a half price discount so everything was 50% off. We ate at the ION outlet. I do have to comment that without the discount that's a place I'd never eat at simply because the prices are insanely expensive, with main courses running from 20-30+. Which okay fair enough, it's ION and food would be more expensive, however that still doesn't seem to be very well priced.
Let's jump right in to the food ;)
Our first course was Macaroni and Cheese. ($24, and with half price it's $12)
I do feel as though I can appreciate the fact that they use multiple cheeses, which gives the pasta this depth of flavour. The sauce is extremely rich and creamy and savoury, with hints of butter and truffle oil completing the dish altogether. Way more comfortable paying at $12 than $24 though.
The second main course we ordered was this spicy crab meat linguine.
Here's a great shot of our meal
Overall, I do feel like the food is super good and definitely has that step above the rest flavour, presentation etc wise, but I just personally feel like for the price that they charge full price, it's not really that worth it. That being said of course, I think it's important to factor in its location (it's literally spot in the middle of luxury stores in a luxury mall) so it's kind of expected for the place and the feel. The service is really great too, so it definitely isn't a bad location to check out. However I do feel like I've tasted better at far cheaper prices (or similar at a fraction of the price), so I doubt I'd visit at all without the discount. Still, a good experience, and trying it at least once is definitely important.
Love,
Khione
