Visit to Salute Coffeeshop

Hey yall!

I've been catching up on clicknetwork's food porn show recently hosted by Irene Ang :) I happened to see their recommendation for a super interesting kopitiam and decided to check it out
^ here's what it looks like!

So a change that has occurred since the show: you will no longer see ramen burgers. I searched high and low, and trust me no way you're gonna find any. You can give Little Hiro a shot if you'd like to get a hit of ramen burgers tho ;)

Anyways, I ordered my meal from two wings! It was pretty much the most affordable food there, and their fried chicken wings and spam fries are everything I swear <3 but sadly I didn't get to try that because I didn't want to spend that much haha

One cool thing I noticed was Two Wings has $8 lunch deals everyday which are seriously good prices for their portions.

The ordering system is really simple: order, pay, and then leave your number. They'll text you when your order arrives!

I also saw this really amazing dessert stall with seriously good looking sweet treats (look at that rainbow cake)

Their cookies are $1, cupcakes around $3-$4 (can't remember) and the lava cakes are pretty price imo (but guess it's alright because it's homemade?) around $9 if I'm not wrong.

We also ordered from Stew Kuchë, and we ordered their signature pork knuckle:

To say the least, if you've had pork knuckle at Huber's (Dempsey), you'd probably realise the flavour of this is not as good (whole table agrees). Might be up to one's individual taste though, but that's what my family thought as well. Plus, Huber's pork knuckle offers the same size dish for only $14+ and this dish was around $18.

Next, my meal from Two Wings:
I ordered the chicken sandwich, and all their main courses come with two sides, so I chose the salad and topped up $1.50 for cheese fries. I also had them seperate all the sauces as there are a few I wasn't sure if I'd like

Here's a side view of my chicken sandwich (sauce separated)
To list the ingredients: Ciabatta bun (I believe), cucumber, tomato, lettuce, fried chicken, special Mayo sauce and also honey mustard (both sauces were separated)

Cheese fries and salad: (huge sizes)

Sauces: from very left to right: honey mustard, balsamic vinegraitte (for the salad), cheese sauce (fries), special Mayo, Mayo, ketchup

This meal cost $11.40, and honestly, it's worth it. The sandwich was great. Even the buns on its own are really tasteful, and their chicken is absolutely amazing seriously seriously good. The combination with all the vegetables was simply wonderful. This meal was pretty much good for two people because of the amazingly huge portions (not complaining) so we honestly felt it was value for dollar.

One thing I'd say about the place: I don't think I'll be frequenting it unfortunately. The prices are simply way too much in my opinion. Stew Kuchë, as well as the seafood shop with all the mussels and stuff, were way too expensive in my opinion for a Coffeeshop. I noticed that a tiny bucket of mussels were $17? And the burgers are $12 for a basic cheeseburger at the burger shop. To me, those are really restaurant prices and you don't get air conditioning here. That kind of puts me off because in my opinion, if I'm going to pay that much a price, eating at a restaurant would give equally good food, free water, and possibly wifi as well as air conditioning and comfy seats. The prices do put people off (I would never pay $17 for a simple pasta sorry). Hence, the cost of eating there is pretty high (only the chicken shop was pretty worth it). If you're gonna get drinks, they're at least $2.50 or so (for canned coke) so yea, pretty expensive. Maybe for lunch tho, I'd consider a visit.

If you take 5 minutes to walk to the hawker centre nearby, I'd recommend this store for drinks:
It's a really popular store, and all their drinks and desserts are great and affordable :)

And that's it for the experience!

I hope no one thinks I'm being a total cheapskate or anything, being dissatisfied with the prices, but I just don't feel that you need to spend that much at a Coffeeshop.

Until next time!

XOXO,
Khione
