Foodporn: Unicorn Tears at Dapper Coffee

Hello hello :)

Today's post is going to be at a really unique coffee place at Tanjong Pagar. I was super intrigued by this place because it had been featured on an article I saw online - the special which was Unicorn Tears, a shimmery blue drink, as well as a coffee drink glittering in gold.

I thought it would be great to cover this place because it is really quaint and also because I wanted to see if the drink was really as "sparkly" as was showed in the site.

I took a really long time to find this location from Chinatown MRT, which was the nearest train station. It is located in a super secluded area which is not very accessible by public transport - FYI it is on the same stretch as Wang Dae Bak, a Korean restaurant I had dined at before (I do believe I did a post on that one)! Furthermore it is literally located up a flight of stairs and there are no clear signs directing you to this coffee shop - so do be patient. Or you could just take a taxi if you have the budget.

Entering this coffee place was pretty interesting - it is a bar at night, but it has that old tavern kind of feel if you know what I mean - like a house-turned-bar kinda deal. The ambience was super chill and kind of rustic in a sense - a great place to hang out at.
And here are some shots of the bar! (FYI I really do not like drinking alcohol)
And they do have a really cosy sitting area - it is rather cramped, so I would advise you come on a weekday or so when it is emptier so you can really get a good spot. It is relatively dark as well inside so do be careful of your belongings when you're there!
Something really cool I noticed was that they do serve food as well! But they are rather pricey, around $20 for a main course, and I was rather reluctant to spend that day, so I only stayed for the drinks.

And here comes the unicorn tears!
For those wondering - you do get to keep the glass bottle (which is great because at the price it's being sold at you might really want to keep the bottle)
And here are more shots of the drink! It is indeed extremely glittery - there will be a short video at the end of this post showing you how it looks when you shake the bottle
I was really cautious trying this drink because the blue colour is definitely a little unsettling (coloured drinks normally taste weird). I wasn't sure if it was going to taste like cotton candy or something super sweet (which would be rather gross tbh) so I didn't pour too much into the glass.
If you look really closely you will see that the drink is truly full of glitter and shimmer - it isn't just all talk (and condensation of course)
And of course - I'm sure everyone is dying to find out just what does this shimmery blue drink taste like? Well surprisingly - very much like lemonade. More lime than lemon - and a very fresh lime taste at that. Not bad at all.

That is, if you factor in the fact that it is $10 for such a small bottle - which really took me by surprise. But for a one time experience - I suppose it's alright.

Overall I would probably rate the experience, not the taste as a 10/10. The atmosphere etc, that's really what gave me a good experience overall. A good one to check out with your friends, for a nice hipster experience.

That's all! You can check Dapper Coffee out at:

Khione
